Love Island's Brad McClelland saw estranged sister for first time after dumping

Love Island star Brad McClelland has found a different type of love after being dumped from the Majorcan villa, as his long-lost sister has finally reached out to him.

Brad did the gentlemanly thing and let Lucinda Strafford keep her place when the couple found themselves in the bottom two.

And though he reckoned they had plenty of chemistry that viewers at home missed out on, it seems at least one good thing has come out of his axe.

Speaking on the Lorraine show on Tuesday, Brad told stand-in host Ranvir Singh that he’s finally in touch with his estranged 15-year-old sister.

Ranvir kicked things off by saying: “Something else incredible has happened in your family, for you in particular – tell us what’s happened since you came out.

“4 million people are watching, everybody now knows what you look like – and then what?”

Brad responded: “So basically, I grew up just with my nana, my dad wasn’t on the scene. But I always knew that I had a younger sister.

“I tried to get in contact with her for years, searching social media and trying to find out who she was – I just had her name.”

The hunk continued: “Basically, she reached out to us, and I FaceTimed her for the first time – the first time I’d ever seen her face and heard her voice was literally just a couple of days ago.”

Brad added: “My plan is now to obviously have a relationship with her and go from there, so if anything’s come out of my Love Island experience it’s honestly finding…”

“You found love in a different way – you found family love!” Ranvir put in, as she wondered: “I mean, what does that mean for you? How much does that matter to you, to have found your little sister after how many years, 20-odd years?”

Brad explained: “Well she’s 15 and this is the first time I’ve ever seen her.”

Ranvir remarked that now Brad’s sister can enjoy having a famous big brother to look out for her.

“It means the world to us,” the Northumbrian labourer confessed. “I’m one of six from me mam’s side anyways, and my brothers and sisters are massive for me.

“I try and spend as much time with them as I can – one of the first things I did when I got out [of the villa] was to see my brother, so another sibling is massive.”

Ranvir laughed: “Well I tell you what – it’s called Love Island and it’s about all the frolicking and all of that but actually, what you show is that family love is really central to you in your life.”

“Obviously, you go on that show to find love in that way, but it’s not always guaranteed,” Brad said philosophically. “But what is guaranteed is what you’ve got at home before you left.”

Brad also showed an adorable photo of him meeting up with his famous nana Joyce after his return to the UK, with them both grinning hugely at the camera.

He lives with her and her dog, and has admitted previously that she never watched the show before he appeared on it – preferring soaps like Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.
