Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan build 'privacy hedge' to surround dream home

Former TOWIE star Mark Wright and his actress wife Michelle Keegan have started the process of constructing a so-called privacy hedge in an attempt to keep their home out of view from neighbours.

The couple are currently transforming their luxurious £1.3million property and are in the process of erecting a hedge around their land.

Mark, 34, and Michelle, 33, recently came under fire from their local community after they submitted plans to construct a 2.1 metre high wall with pillars and gates surrounding the Essex home.

In order to help complete their grand renovations the couple have hired a large team of landscapers that are in the process of setting up fast-growing conifer and laurel trees to ensure privacy.

Last weekend, the twosome’s contractors shared updates as they proceeded to prepare the grounds and plant the “privacy hedge”.

Earlier this year, married couple Mark and Michelle were faced with major setbacks as their building proposal was met with objections from the community.

The parish raised concerns regarding the “inappropriate” walls and said they would potentially block a public footpath on their land.

The statement from the parish council read: “The parish council objects to this application.

“The design of the high walls, together with the pillars and the gates, are out of keeping with the rural setting and would detract from the rural nature of this particular area of the parish.”

In hopes of building their lavish dream home, last year the couple managed to secure permission to demolish the four-bedroom period farmhouse on their property.

The pair have been documenting their journey on Instagram and providing their followers with regular updates on their home makeover process.

They’ve also been connecting with the followers on a more personal level, as they regularly ask for suggestions on what their interiors should look like.

The couple recently asked their Instagram fans for suggestions on one of their bathrooms.

Mark and Michelle shared a collection of designs and asked fans to chose which one was their favourite.

Taking to Instagram, the duo wrote: “These votes are really helping us decide on stuff! So we go again!

“It’s so hard making decisions when building a home from scratch as you don’t want to make a mistake and look back and regret.”
