This week has seen the apparent feud between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the rest of the Royal Family hit fever pitch.
What with the world waiting with baited breath for the airing of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah Winfrey interview released in the US Sunday night, and Prince Philip’s health at risk following an operation on his heart, tempers are fraying.
It was then announced that Buckingham Palace will be investigating claims from Meghan Markle’s former aides that she bullied them during 2018, and now the former Suits actress’s costars are coming out to defend her.
Patrick J Adams, who played Mike Ross on the popular law drama Suits, had a sizzling on-screen romance with his former colleague, and Meghan’s character Rachel Zane ended the show with the couple finally getting married.
In real life, Patrick was also a guest at Harry and Meghan’s fairytale Windsor Castle wedding in 2018.
Proving a fierce loyalty to his longtime friend remains, Patrick posted a lengthy statement in support of Meghan on his Twitter page, calling the Duchess “kind”, “supportive”, and hitting out at the Royal Family.
He began: “Meghan Markle and I spent the better part of a decade working together on Suits. From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, giving, joyful and supportive member of our television family. She remained that person and colleague as fame, prestige and power accrued.
“She has always been a powerful woman with a deep sense of morality and a fierce work ethic and has never been afraid to speak up, be heard and defend herself and those she holds dear. Like the rest of the world, I have watched her navigate the last few years in astonishment.
“She fell in love, moved to a new country, became a household name across the entire globe and began the difficult work of trying to find her place in a family dynamic that can at best be described as complicated and at worst, seemingly archaic and toxic.”
The actor continued to say it “sickened him” to read the “endless racist, slanderous, click baiting vitriol spewed in her direction” from the media but he was convinced people would end up regretting underestimating her.
Patrick went on to claim the “hunt” continued after the couple’s son Archie was born, and the star unleashed his anger against the Royal Family.
“It’s obscene that the Royal Family, whose newest member is currently growing inside of her, is promoting and amplifying accusations of ‘bullying’ against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the UK in order protect her family and her own mental health,” he said, before saying that the latest “chapter” is another example of why the royal institution has “outlived its relevance” and is “bankrupt of decency”.
“Find someone else to admonish, berate and torment. My friend Meghan is way out of your league,” the star finished dramatically, as his followers flocked to the comments.
One person shared: “As a victim of bullying I’m disappointed you’d condone people accused of bullying.”
“I agree moving to the US to escape the British press was needed. They had it really rough, they’ve been treated badly. But this Oprah interview has thrown them back into the full throttle of it. Why do it? They stepped away for a reason. Do the work they want to and stay private,” another offered.

While a third asked: “Isn’t it obscene that a woman who was given fame and fortune by her husband’s family is going on Oprah to badmouth her family including one of the greatest female leaders of the 20th century at that same time?”
Others cheered and praised Patrick for coming to his friend’s defence in the middle of the furore, with many saying they felt “emotional”, and thanking him for “speaking up” and giving “the truth”.
Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey will be broadcast in the UK Monday at 9pm on ITV.
