Miriam Margolyes blasts Boris Johnson in Covid row and wants him 'castrated'

Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes hasn’t had the best relationship with current Prime Minister Boris Johnson – but now she has taken it a step further, as she wants the PM castrated.

It comes after she wished he would die from coronavirus last year – a controversial move which sparked an Ofcom investigation.

The 80-year-old comedian and actress opened up in a new interview with The Guardian in which she slammed both Boris and his father, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Stanley.

She wasn’t holding anything back as she ranted: “I think [the Conservatives] are an appalling, incompetent, corrupt shower of tw**s.

“The cronyism and the prejudice and the bullying – I have never seen such a deplorable collection of people.”

She added of her documentary series The Real Marigold On Tour, which she starred in with Stanley: “I spent a week with Boris Johnson’s vile father, you know. Horrible, just contemptible.

“You know, I got into trouble for saying that I wanted his son dead… Well, I don’t want him to die, but I wouldn’t mind if he was castrated.”

It comes after Miriam sparked almost 500 Ofcom complaints for wishing the PM dead during a stint on panel show The Last Leg.

She said at the time: “I had difficulty not wanting Boris Johnson to die. I wanted him to die. Then I thought that will reflect badly on me and i don’t want to be the sort of person that wants people to die.

“So then I wanted him to get better, which he did do, he did get better. But he didn’t get better as a human being. And I really would prefer that.”

She and Stanley further clashed during filming for The Real Marigold On Tour, with her branding his son a “p***ock” and questioning whether he dyes his hair.

She asked him on the show: “Boris looks very much like Stanley. Is that the natural colour or do you assist it?”

Stanley clearly took offence, as he responded: “Oh, for heaven’s sake! I say! If I did, I wouldn’t admit to it!”

When Miriam pointed out that nobody likely cares about whether his blonde hair is natural, Stanley protested: “Well, chaps don’t do that kind of thing.”

Miriam was later cleared by Ofcom for the Channel 4 row, with a spokeswoman for the TV watchdog admitting that while the comments were “provocative” and had “clear potential to offend”, the adult tone of the show and Miriam’s own reputation for being blunt must be taken into account.

She said: “We also took into account that Ms Margolyes immediately qualified her comments, and viewers were warned in advance about the programme’s adult humour.”
