Naga Munchetty has defended her recent onscreen absence on BBC Breakfast after cruel and disgruntled viewers celebrated the fact she wasn’t on air.
As the 47-year-old prepares to make her comeback later this week, the loving wife took to Twitter to hit back at some cruel trolls who celebrated her absence online.
While scrolling through the popular social media platform, the news reader shared her opinions on their heartless comments made on Sunday evening.
One user named Rob declared how grateful he was that Naga had taken a break from the BBC show, who described her as “snide” and “irritating” on the iconic red couch.
He penned: “Glad that BBC Breakfast doesn’t have @TVNaga01 on the sofa again. It’s a far more pleasant program without her snide and irritating comments.
“Long may the lack of @TVNaga01 on our screens continue,” they concluded.
As supporters of the hit TV star flooded to her defence, Naga soon gave the user a taste of their own medicine as she responded to his mean comments.
She replied: “Ah Rob, Thank goodness there’s someone else who is also ‘snide & irritating’ out there. Phew!
“Long may your own lack of pleasantness continue. X”
But she didn’t stop there, as the news reader was on a mission to stamp out hate on the online forum last night when another user hit out following her response.
Another viewer wrote: “I and many other change channels when snide Naga is on. Agree with Rob. What’s worse if you turn the radio on and she’s there as well.
He questioned: “Why on earth do BBC rate her? Well I know the answer …”
Unphased by his hateful comments, Naga simply replied: “Yet you follow me on Twitter. Oh dear Tim …”
It comes after the news reader revealed she was taking a much-needed vacation on Sunday as the loving wife shared a snap whilst playing golf in the Scottish Highlands.
Last week, Nina Warhust stepped into her hosting shoes for Thursday, Friday and Saturday while she made the most of her time away from the cameras.
