Naomi Campbell has had 'secret boyfriend in US for 18 months' as she becomes mum

Supermodel Naomi Campbell caused an internet frenzy on Tuesday afternoon, after she announced that she had become a mum at 50.

Though many supporters congratulated the star, others were left feeling wondering if Naomi was currently seeing someone secretly.

But according to recent reports from The Scottish Sun, fans of the fashion model seem to have certainly hit the nail on the head, as reports claim Naomi has been dating a boyfriend in the US privately for the past 18 months.

Not only this, but images taken of the star in April showed her appearing slim.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Naomi informed her 10.4million followers that she had now become a mother to a baby girl.

Posting the adorable pic which saw the model cradling her little girl’s feet, she captioned the post: “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother. So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life.

“There are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”

Friends of the star, seemed to be as shocked as Naomi’s fans and headed to the comment section to express their love and surprise.

Designer Marc Jacobs, 58, said: “Oh my God!!!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are!”

While British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, 49, penned: “Seeing the two of you together made my year. You will bring each other so much joy.”

For several years, the catwalk model has frequently spoken about her desire to become a mum and said “science” can help her to achieve her dreams.

Many fans have speculated that Naomi, who turns 51 on Saturday, may have used a surrogate and did not carry her little one herself.

Eagle eyed fans also noticed Naomi wore hospital band on her wrist that they believe may have been taken in the US.

But Naomi has continued to keep tight lipped about it all and only informed a select few members of her friends and family to share her baby news with.

She also kept the information hidden from her team and told them an hour before yesterday’s announcement.

Speaking about the unexpected news, a friend of the star explained to The Sun last night: “This is typical Naomi. She loves to surprise people and keep them on their toes. It is really fantastic and happy news.

“At a time when everything feels so negative in the showbiz world, she hopes this will help lift some spirits.”

According to Naomi’s close pals, the model was inspired by her close friend and fellow supermodel Iman, who also had her first child relatively late in life.

After tying the knot to David Bowie, Iman had her daughter Lexi in 2000 at the age of 45.

A source close to the Star told The Sun: “Naomi has really mellowed in the past year and is in a wonderful place in life.

“She has been living in America with her boyfriend and is really happy. It finally felt like the ­perfect time to become a mother and she is over the moon.

“The first lockdown allowed her to stop and take stock of the important things and she decided now was the time to properly look into starting a family.”

Naomi has previously expressed that she does long to have children, with or without a partner in her life.

In 2014, the supermodel said: “I do want to have children, whether I have a man or not. I will have it on my own.”
