Piers Morgan has revealed how Simon Cowell has floated a new opportunity for Piers to return to the small screen after his decision to quit Good Morning Britain.
The outspoken star famously stormed out of the ITV studios after a row with weather presenter Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle.
Piers now says that after hours of talks with Simon, there is a possibility that he could return to America for a new venture.
“I saw Simon Cowell recently, and of course he got me my first big break in America,” Susanna Reid’s former co-star said.
He added to The Sun: “We walked for three hours.
“I got terrible blisters but I didn’t dare tell him because it felt like he was going to keep going until one of us surrendered.
“We talked about a few opportunities – I would like to work with him again.”
Simon and Piers first worked together in a decade and a half ago after the X Factor judge gave him a judging spot on 2006’s edition of America’s Got Talent.
A year later Piers was bumped up to the British version of the show when it launched on ITV in 2007 alongside Amanda Holden.
Piers remained on the show until 2011 when he was replaced by comedian Michael McIntyre in 2011.
Since quitting Good Morning Britain Piers has kept a low profile, though recently claimed that he ha been approached about returning to the show.
He claims that with ratings struggling to keep up with what he brought in, ITV bosses are now considering if a comeback would be possible.
He teased: “I have had some quite random third-party feelers put out to see if I would consider a return to the show.
“I don’t want to say on the record who, but a pretty close third-party.
“As the Americans say, they reached out — there have been approaches to test the water in the wake of their obvious ratings issues.
“It makes me sad to see all the hard work we did to beat the BBC in viewing numbers evaporate so fast.
“It’s their problem to work out … but never say never.”
