In a statement released from Penguin Random House, it was confirmed that Prince Harry would be writing his memoirs with the publisher.
When the news broke, former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was quick to ridicule the plans – and he has gone on to share his complete shock in his column with Daily Mail.
In the statement of Harry releasing his memoirs, the publisher stated that the memoir would come from “one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time”, which Piers has disregarded.
Expressing his own opinion, he said: “When I think of the most fascinating and influential global figures of my time, I think of people like Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali, Steve Jobs, Marie Curie,” among others.
He added: “I don’t think of a spoiled, self-obsessed hypocritical royal brat born into staggering privilege with no discernible current skill other than an ability to ruthlessly exploit his royal status for money by constantly attacking the very institution that makes him commercially viable.”
It was announced that Prince Harry will be opening up on his experiences and life lessons from his life in the public eye to becoming a husband and father.
The statement said: “Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story.”
Piers has said that he believes the book will be “Harry’s truth”, while questioning what is “inspiring, courageous and uplifting” about Harry.
When the news was announced yesterday, Piers immediately shared the news on his Twitter page and wrote: “You’ve got to be f*****g joking?????[sic]”, alongside two laughing emojis.
