Movie great Robert De Niro has injured his leg while filming the new Martin Scorsese film.
The 77-year-old actor has been shooting Killers of the Flower Moon, but was not on the set in Oklahoma at the time of the accident.
The acclaimed actor injured his quadriceps while staying at his accommodation for the shoot, his reps have confirmed.
De Niro’s injury will be treated in New York, and it will not affect production, as he was not scheduled to shoot in the coming days.
When contacted by Daily Star, Robert’s representatives said: “While at his on-location home in Oklahoma for the filming of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Robert De Niro injured his quadriceps muscle which will be treated medically in New York.
“This will not effect production as he was not scheduled to film again for another two weeks.”
De Niro was quick to say yes to Killers of the Flower Moon, a movie based on the book by David Grann surrounding a series of mysterious murders from nearly 100 years ago.
Released in 2017, the non-fiction book by the American journalist was a bestseller, receiving rave reviews upon its release.
The film also features Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone.
It is said to have a budget of around $200million but it won’t be ready for release until 2022.
Scorsese’s most expensive film highlights the killings which sparked a major FBI investigation involving J Edgar Hoover in the 1920s.

De Niro and Scorsese’s collaborative history stretches back to the 70s, when they worked on box office hits like Mean Streets and Taxi Driver.
The years that followed have seen the cinematic greats work on Raging Bull, Goodfellas and, more recently, The Irishman.
De Niro agreed to star in Killers of the Flower Moon in 2019, but Covid postponed production, pushing it ahead to April of this year.
