Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan's wild friendship – TV axe, boob flash and strangling

It may seem like an unlikely friendship but Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan have been friends for more than 15 years now, and defending Piers cost Sharon a job.

The two worked together on America’s Got Talent for several years, and got up to a lot of mischief, and also became great friends, which led to her filming an interview for his Life Stories series.

Sharon, 68, and Piers, 56, are both known for their bold opinions and neither of them are shy, and it sounds like the friendship hasn’t always been plain sailing but the pair still stand by each other.

Daily Star has taken a look at their rollercoaster relationship as Sharon marks her 69th birthday.

Racism row

Sharon waded in to defend Piers after the comments he made saying he didn’t believe Meghan Markle in the wake of her bombshell Oprah interview.

Many had called Morgan “racist” and Sharon wasn’t having it.

She tweeted: “I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”

Later she elaborated in her hosting role on The Talk: “Did I like everything [Morgan] said? Did I agree with what he said? No, because it’s his opinion. It’s not my opinion.”

“I support him for his freedom of speech, and he’s my friend,” she added.

“But why is it that because I supported a long-time friend and work colleague of mine for years that everybody goes, if you support him, then you must be racist because he’s racist?

She continued, “I’m not racist…I don’t care what color or what religion anyone is. Are you a nice person? That’s what I judge you on.”

Piers tweeted his gratitude: “When stuff like this happens, true friends run towards you, fake friends run away.”

““I love Sharon Osbourne because she always stays true to herself. She knew she would get abused by the woke brigade for tweeting this – but did it anyway because it what she believes.

Sharon then lost her job on The Talk following her comments defending him.

She appeared on another TV show, HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” to talk about the sacking.

Maher said: “Piers Morgan was called a racist and lost his job, and you were called a racist and lost your job. Do I have it right? Who’s the racist and why? This is what I’m trying to figure out.”

“Me, too,” Osbourne said. “I’ve been called so many things in my life, I am so used to being called names, but a racist is one I will not take.”

“Disagreeing with someone does not make you a racist,” she insisted.

Flashing and arguments

Piers joked he was ‘traumatised’ by her antics

Piers revealed that Sharon once exposed her breasts to him on a particularly eventful flight.

He told the Mirror: “We were incarcerated on a small plane for five hours flying to Los Angeles. I love Sharon but she was in a frisky mood after a couple of glasses of red wine.”

“I needed to sleep but every time I tried she’d wake me.

“She was shrieking and poking my nose or pulling my ears. I finally drifted off, only to get woken again. I opened my eyes to the sight of Sharon’s naked right breast dangling two inches from my eyes.”

He told Loose Women about the incident, adding: “I have never felt so traumatised.”

In his column earlier this year, Piers added that Sharon added: “Try sleeping through that!”

“Strangling”

Before their loyalty, it seems the duo had an almighty falling out the very first time they met.

Piers and Sharon appeared on Loose Women together and recalled their eventful introduction to one another.

He claimed that Sharon attacked him while attending a dinner with talk-show legend Jerry Springer and NBC bosses ahead of America’s Got Talent.

Piers explained: “I’d written some not entirely complimentary things about Sharon.

“She runs up behind me and begins to strangle me to death. It wasn’t funny. She was literally throttling me. Ozzy was trying to pull her off. Eventually Jerry Springer managed to pull her off of me.”

He said he was then woken up in the early hours by Sharon calling to say sorry: “I thought ‘this is a disaster,’ so I go back to my hotel room to take a sleeping pill to get over this and wake up at 3am to my phone ringing incessantly [and it’s Ozzy].””

In his column he explained he had asked her if she had forgiven him. He says Sharon replied: “No, you pen-pushing little t***, you’re just Simon Cowell without the talent or the f***ing class, darling.”

He said that the American producers were stunned by their outrageous antics, saying “These Brits are even crazier than we thought.”

Piers added that Sharon is “definitely crazier than most, and ferociously loyal, which is why I love her.”
