Sharon Osbourne fears losing job in 'set-up' after defending Piers Morgan on TV

Livid Sharon Osbourne admits she faces losing her highest paying TV gig alleging network executives “set her up” for a fall as a “sacrificial lamb”.

Furious Sharon blasted CBS bosses in America for trying to make her appear racist while protecting the channel given it has broadcast Oprah Winfrey’s special with a publicity-shy couple.

The reality TV icon feels a victim of “cancel culture” for defending pal Piers Morgan’s right to free speech over the Royals.

In a powerful reaction to claims about her behaviour being probed, the former X Factor judge insists she demanded an investigation into the incident herself.

However the 68-year-old concedes that her 11-year stint as The Talk’s central host could be over.

Sharon said she wasn’t sure whether her co-stars on The Talk wanted her back on the show

She said: “I don’t know whether it’s gone past that (stage). I don’t know whether I even want to go back. … I don’t know whether I’m wanted there.”

Aside from those issues, Sharon also hit back at accusations of using racist language against past and present stars from the lunchtime Loose Women-style series.

Sharon said: “I had sided with Piers so it is the cancel culture isn’t it? Throw her under the bus.

“I just felt this is the biggest set up ever and I am falling into it and I’m going deeper down this hole.”

CBS refuses to discuss Sharon’s claims and insist: “CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace across all of our productions.

“We’re also very mindful of the important concerns expressed and discussions taking place regarding events on ‘The Talk.’ This includes a process where all voices are heard, claims are investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary.

“The show will extend its production hiatus until next Tuesday as we continue to review these issues.”

The show was pulled off air last week after Sharon got locked in a race row with The Talk’s host Sheryl Underwood.

After Sharon defended Piers, Sheryl claimed she “gave validation” to the ex-Good Morning Britain presenter’s “racist” views.

Sharon, who is married to singer Ozzy Osbourne, has since apologised to “anyone of colour” and said she felt “panicked, felt blindsided [and] got defensive” after she was accused of validating racism.

It comes after Ofcom revealed they had received over 57,000 complaints concerning Piers’ coverage of Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah.

It has broken an Ofcom record, signalling the highest number of complaints ever received by the watchdog in its 17-year history.

Speaking out on the complaints over Twitter, Piers said: “Only 57,000? I’ve had more people than that come up and congratulate me in the street for what I said. The vast majority of Britons are right behind me.”
