The Chase was forced to undergo a series of changes due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Tonight (1 January) marked the first socially distanced episode to broadcast as fans noticed several differences on the iconic quiz show.
Presenter Bradley Walsh was back hosting while Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace was the Chaser.
When viewers saw the team of four taking part today, they noticed that they were seated much further apart than usual.
The new socially distanced desk meant the players were a safe distance away from one another and so following government guidelines.
They were also separated from each other with a clear wall partition on each side.

Usually, presenter Bradley would shake the contestants’ hand after their round against the Chaser.
Tonight, however, the host gave them each an air five instead.
This is like a high five, but without the hands coming into contact.
Viewers went into meltdown as they noticed the changes made to the show. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One said: “Socially distance The Chase is brilliant!”

While another wrote: “Lovely to see The Chase now socially distanced. All very well thought through.”
A third added: “Oh my god. OMG. it’s a socially distanced chase!!”
Some fans found the socially distanced instalment strange as they attempted to get used to the new series.
One said: “Socially-distanced The Chase looks so weird! Even after all this time, I can’t get used to TV shows where people are 6-8 feet apart (when they used to be next to each other, just a few inches apart!)”.
“Not sure how I feel about socially distanced The Chase”, remarked another.
Tonight’s team did incredibly well as three made it through to the final chase.
They gained a staggering 18 step lead against Shaun Wallace going into the last round.
Despite their best efforts, Shaun caught them with just four seconds remaining.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5.35pm on ITV.
