Dan Walker took a savage swipe at ITV Chaser Paul Sinha’s outfit on a celebrity edition of The Chase.
The BBC Breakfast presenter starred in a star-studded episode of The Chase last May alongside reality star Ferne McCann, Scottish former MP Ruth Davison and Level 42 musician Mark King.
However, it wasn’t long before Dan decided to have a pop at TV quizzer Paul Sinha – after spotting the Chaser’s bold white blazer in the studio.
Former Strictly star proceeded to mock Paul’s glam white tuxedo at the end of Mark King’s cash-builder round, where he racked up £4,000.
Paul offered the musician a high offer of £60,000 and a low of £1,000 before host Bradley Walsh turned to Dan and asked him what he thought Mark should do.
Bradley asked him: “Dan, what do you say?”, to which Dan cheekily said: “Don’t get sucked in by the man in the white tuxedo.”
Paul saw the funny side of the dig, because he could be seen smirking at the quip when the camera turned to him.
Dan then took another shot at Paul when he told Mark: “Your jacket’s much better, go four grand.”
When it came to Dan’s round, he got off to a flying start and banked a whopping £8,000 in his cash-builder, demonstrating a wealth of general knowledge.
Things heated up when he decided to take a major risk after Chaser Paul Sinha put a high offer of £104,000 on the table.
Dan bravely decided to accept the offer, but he was beaten by a question about the 2019 Oscars, which saw him accidentally click the wrong answer.
The huge button-error proved to be his un-doing, because it meant he was Chased down and defeated.
Dan turned to his teammates and said: “Sorry, gang.”
The rest of his team had already made it back to the panel for the Final Chase.
The question read: “In 2019, which Marvel film became the first superhero film to be nominated for the ‘Best Picture’ Oscar?”
Three options were listed below – Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Dan immediately clicked option A, Avengers: Infinity War, but he quickly admitted he’d made a giant mistake.
He turned to Bradley and explained: “Do you know what I did there – I meant to put Black Panther.”
Bradley was gutted for the presenter, because it meant Dan only had one more chance to make it to the final.
Dan took the loss well as he said: “It’s alright, got to take it as it lies.”
The star was eliminated when he didn’t know the answer to the next question, which related to the origin of the name of the Himalayas.
The studio erupted in disappointed sighs as Dan walked away empty-handed, and Bradley said: “So, so sorry.”
Dan turned to his remaining teammates – Ferne, Ruth, and Mark – and wished them good luck in the final Chase.
He told them: “I wish you all the best for the final round.”
Luckily, the trio managed to beat Paul Sinha with just seconds to spare, meaning they took home £12,000 between them for their chosen charities.
