BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent replaced by Nina Warhurst in presenter switch-up

BBC Breakfast had a shake-up of presenters after the new year’s celebrations as fans were baffled to see some unusual faces at the start of their week.

During Monday’s instalment of the popular morning show, Dan Walker was joined on the couch with Nina Warhurst who stepped in to replace Sally Nugent at the last minute.

Although the reason behind her absence remains unknown, viewers were happy to see the brunette beauty back on the couch with the former Strictly Come Dancing star.

Ahead of the daily show, Dan took to Twitter to share a sweet selfie with his new co-host as they beamed while catching up on the iconic red sofa.

The 44-year-old captioned the snap: “Good morning. It’s a busy old show on #BBCBreakfast this morning. Nice to be back on the sofa with @NinaWarhurst.”

And fans soon rushed to social media to share their delight at the TV switch-up, as one user penned: “Great to see the very lovely Nina on the red sofa presenting Breakfast, you’re a lucky man Mr Walker!”

But some viewers shared their concerns for Sally as one worried viewer asked: “No way. Has Sally left? What’s going on? Surely she’s not off to the other side already.”

It comes after Sima Kotecha joined Ben Thompson on his usual Sunday morning slot rather than Nina.

The pair stepped in for Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt for the weekend after doting dad took a week off after the festive period.

He is expected to return to the red sofa next week, alone with regular presenters Nina, Dan and Sally.

BBC Breakfast airs every day from 6am on BBC One.
