BGT's Amanda Holden says she won't 'cover up' for semi-finals despite complaints

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden says she refuses to cover up during the live semi-finals despite previous Ofcom complaints.

Throughout her time on the ITV show, Amanda, 51, has been the centre of controversy for her risqué ensembles which often raises eyebrows amongst viewers.

In 2017, the family programme received 633 Ofcom complaints for Amanda’s black sequinned gown which sported an extreme plunging cleavage and a low dipped back.

But despite the backlash she previously faced, the TV personality confessed that she doesn’t plan on showing less skin during the upcoming live BGT semi-finals.

Talking to OK! about her infamous dress at the time, she said: “That dress was hysterical – it was Julien Macdonald, I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together.

“But, look, I’m from a small-chest family, plus you know I’m 48 years old. It’s all quite laughable, but all everyone seems to talk about.”

She added: “It’s been called another national crisis – but, oh no, I will not be covered up.”

When mother-of-two Amanda appeared on TV screens across the nation wearing the daringly low cut dress, viewers headed straight to Twitter to complain at the time.

One person wrote: “What the hell is Amanda wearing on BGT, totally not suitable.”

Meanwhile another said: “So Amanda is effectively topless on Britain’s Got Talent.”

But the controversial black dress wasn’t the only one that set tongues wagging, as Amanda has stepped out in a number of tantalising frocks that have caused quite the stir over the years.

In 2020, Amanda caused outrage amongst viewers once again after she stepped onto the stage wearing a plunging blue gown.

For that particular episode, Britain’s Got Talent received 277 Ofcom complaints from viewers on the night however, 235 of those complaints belonged to Amanda and her sparkly blue dress.

Despite this, Amanda has often shown that she doesn’t care about what people think of her daring outfits.

The radio presenter previously told The Sun: “My t*ts seem to become the show’s biggest talking point every year.

“Will people be complaining to Ofcom? I hope so, I really do. I haven’t done my job if they aren’t,” she joked.
