Boy George says public should 'not believe anything Matt Hancock says' about I'm a Celeb

Boy George has said that the public “should not believe anything” Matt Hancock says about why he took part in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Former Health Secretary Matt took part in the 2022 series of the beloved ITV reality programme, alongside celebrities including sportsperson Mike Tindall, DJ Chris Moyles and Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver.

Prior to entering the jungle, Matt said: “Politicians are people too and it will be nice for people to see me as me,” adding: “I am looking forward to throwing myself into it all like I do everything in life. You can’t hide anything in the jungle, you see somebody warts and all.”

However, fellow contestant and musician Boy George has revealed exclusively to The Sun that he found it “impossible” to believe the reasons that Matt gave publicly for joining I’m a Celeb.

He said: “We all know that politicians are real people.

“We also know everyone wants to be a rock star, everybody. Especially politicians.

“So it’s impossible to believe some people’s reasons for doing something. Ultimately, they are doing it for a bigger profile, a bit more attention, hopefully showing people a different side.”

“Matt . . . he’s a Libra, and Libras love the spotlight,” continued the musician.

“They love the good life. They’ll elbow you out of the way for a seat on the jet. They like luxury.”

Boy George added: “So don’t believe anything Matt says about why he did I’m A Celebrity this year. He did it because he wants to kick up his heels and have a good time.”

During his time on the programme, Matt was made camp leader alongside deputy Charlene White, known as a journalist and panellist for ITV day time talk show Loose Women.

He also made it all the way to the final, where he was placed third, with Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner coming in second.

However, Matt ultimately lost out to Lioness Jill Scott, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle.
