Bars and Melody stole the heats of the nation when they auditioned for Britian’s Got Talent back in 2014.
The duo, made up of Leondre Devries and Charlie Lenehan, wowed viewers with their rendition of Twista and Faith Evans’ track Hopeful.
Singer Charlie, from Gloucestershire, and rapper Leondre, from South Wales, met on social media.
They decided to work together after Leondre watched videos of Charlie singing online.
The duo still make music together today after singing a deal with Simon’s music company Syco after appearing on BGT.
Their first single Hopeful charted at number five in the UK Singles Chart.
Bars and Melody later released a further two albums and also competed on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.
They replaced the lyrics with a protesting against bullying, something which young Leondre had previously endured before appearing on the ITV show.
During the grand final, they came in third place behind runner-up Lucy Kay and champions Collabro.
As Simon, Amanda, David and Alesha continue their search for the 2022 winner, Daily Star has taken a look at what Charlie and Leondre have been up to since finding fame eight years ago.
Lawsuit
Their start in the music world was not left without its fair share of challenges though.
Leondre’s father, Antonio Devries, filed a lawsuit against the duo claiming that Hopeful was his song, written about troubles he was having in his life.
He said that he was unhappy the pair moved away and that he was responsible for promoting Bars and Melody prior to their appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.
A statement issued at the time from the duo read: “Bars and Melody are sorry to hear that legal action is being threatened and hope that it will be resolved quickly and amicably.”
Gun threat horror
In 2017, Bars and Melody ran into some drama as their manager was threatened with a gun.
The duo were escorted to safety following the incident on a European tour in Germany, which took place outside a supermarket when they went to buy a drink.
Manager Phil O’Neil spoke about how the gunman claimed they were blocking the highway with the tour van.
He said: “I have never come across a gun in 14 years of working and never had to deal with that situation.”
Writing on Twitter after the incident, Bars and Melody addressed the situation and told fans they were safe and well.
New image
Bars and Melody are now in their 20s and are still going as a rap R&B act.
These days Charlie, known as Melody, is covered in tattoos, with inkings on his neck, arms and chest.
He is as close as ever to co-star Leondre, who has grown his hair, marking a stark difference to the spiky do he used to rock as a teen.
They also made a welcome return to Britain’s Got Talent in 2019 to sing their own song Here Comes The Sun.
And fans were shocked even then to see the pair looking so much older.
Baby joy
Charlie is set to welcome his first child later this year.
He logged into his official Instagram page on December 31 to announce his exciting news with fans.
The musician told his followers that he was feeling “excited, anxious and scared” alongside a snap of his baby scan.
Earlier this week, Charlie shared a snap of him kissing his partner while holding her blooming bump.
Alongside the sweet snap, he penned: “Mummy & daddy are getting impatient now…I can’t wait to meet you.”
