CBB's Chantelle Houghton's secret link to Princess Diana for ill-fated Preston wedding

Chantelle Houghton, star and winner of Big Brother’s most iconic series, has admitted that she is still friends with her ex-husband Preston and will “never get rid” of her wedding dress.

The 38-year-old was put into the Big Brother house as the only non-celebrity and was challenged to make her fellow housemates believe she was part of a girlband.

During her time in the house, she struck up a romance with her co-star Preston, who was a singer in the band The Ordinary Boys.

The star opened up about how her life has changed since her time in the Big Brother house: “Obviously I got married, I got divorced, I do not regret getting married at all. I had a wonderful wedding, I was 21 years old and I got married in the middle of London in Mayfair. I wore a wedding dress that was designed by the same designer that did Princess Diana’s dress.”

She admitted: “I’ve still got it in the cupboard. I will never ever get rid of that dress because I absolutely adored Princess Diana!”

“I’ve had a child, I’m now a mum. I took a while out of the public eye for personal reasons but I’m back working again. I’m just making the most out of all the opportunities that have been passed my way.”

She explained that she’s “happy, doing well and living life to the fullest.”

Chantelle also touched upon her divorce from her short-lived marriage to Preston: “The only thing I can liken it to is a holiday romance. You go away, you’re in this huge bubble, you’re not working, you’re not around family, everything is just fun, fun, fun.”

The former model admitted that the couple would have “never looked twice at each other”

and would have “never even come across each other” as they had such different interests.

Despite their differences the pair “fell in love with each other” and moved down to Brighton together.

They were on their way to becoming prominent in the spotlight and Chantelle described it as a “whirlwind of falling in love,” which was quickly overshadowed when the “honeymoon period” came to an end.

Chantelle explained that they “couldn’t hold onto that lustful feeling forever” and when it fizzled out, they realised that “they were so different, like two little kids.”

She recalled a date night at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Claridges, which made them stop and question themselves as they didn’t think they were “old enough” to be there.

Although their relationship came to an end after just 10 months of marriage, Chantelle said she made “memories that will last forever” and the pair still maintain a friendship to this day.
