Celebrity Masterchef fans up in arms as John Tarode 'steals' Greg Wallace's catchphrase

Celebrity MasterChef fans were up in arms that John Tarode had stole Greg Wallace’s famous line.

Viewers tuned in on Tuesday (16 August) to watch the likes of Gogglebox’s Chris Eubank, All Saints star Melanie Blatt, choirmaster Gareth Malone, dancer Queen Mo-Jo and Eastenders actor Cliff Parisi cook against one another for a place in the final.

Each contestant was given a secret ingredient to work with and All Saints songstress Mel was asked to conjure up something with chocolate.

Showing off her desert skills, Mel opted to deliver the judges John and Greg a seriously appetising and calorific chocolate and peanut butter cheesecake.

John was accused of stealing Greg’s famous line

Speaking to camera, John praised the hitmaker for idea but stressed she’d need to ensure that she had a “buttery biscuit base”.

After hearing the three words from the Greg Wallace’s Buttery Biscuit Base mash-up that went viral a few years ago, online users went wild.

However, many fans were unhappy that John had stolen Greg’s thunder.

One person penned: “OI Torode! Only Gregg can say ‘buttery biscuit base’ #MasterChef.”

A second echoed: “Wait did John just say buttery biscuit base.”

While a third chimed in: “No John didn’t just say buttery biscuit base #MasterChef.”

All celebrities went head-to-head in three intense rounds and for their final dish were asked to cook up their favourite plate.

Mel really impressed the judges

It was a tough round, with every single star throwing their all into delivering a tasty serving.

With Mel, dishing up a beefy cottage pie, Gareth showing off his culinary skills with seared sea bass and Chris Eubank opting for simple yet indulgent food with a corn-beef delight.

It was Mel and and Gareth who really delighted John and Greg and they sailed through to the final.

However Queen Mo-Jo and Chris didn’t have the best round.

Mo-Jo’s prawns were undercooked and Chris’ homemade pasta was too big in size.

But one person had to leave the competition and Mo-Jo’s undercooked seafood was the reason John and Greg gave for her departure.
