Celebs Go Dating turns emotional as Pete Wicks opens up on heartbreaking family past

Things took to an emotional turn during the latest episode of Celebs Go Dating after Pete Wicks shared insight into the relationship he has with his father.

Speaking to dating experts Paul C Brunson and Anna Williamson on the E4 show, TOWIE star Pete revealed that although his father is a “good man” he doesn’t have a relationship with him after he left his mother.

But as he went on, the 34 year old also disclosed that his grandmother recently passed away.

Seeing him share his emotional side to the experts, fans were left pleasantly surprised and rushed over to Twitter to share their thoughts on the reality hunk.

One social media user wrote: “Aww. Pete’s actually quite sweet. Bless him. He’s really displaying a vulnerable side that I’ve never seen before. Wow.”

Another penned: “I’m welling up.”

While a third viewer said: “Just want to give @P_Wicks01 a hug so brave to talk so deep.”

Sharing his story with the experts, Pete said: “My dad is a good man but I just don’t have a relationship with him.

“My mum and dad split up when I was younger like when I was 11 or so and I barely seen him since.

“I understand that things were difficult for him at the time but I wasn’t enough for him to stay was I?”

He added: “Him leaving didn’t just affect me, my mum was not in a great way for a good few years and I didn’t really get a chance to maybe process what I needed to process because I had to make sure she was alright.”

Interrupting him, Paul asked: “Do you think that has an impact on you?”

Pete replied: “It made me become the man that I am which I’m grateful for but it’s not kind of his fault, all of it is probably my fault as well.

Paul chimed in and said: “No, don’t do it! Don’t do that.”

Later on in the conversation, Pete also shared how sad he was to lose his grandmother who he was very close with.

To help Pete with emotions, the experts told him that he must also show this side of himself during his future dates and tone down on his sexual chat which he often leads with.
