Dawn French has “confirmed” her “attendance” at King Charles III’s proclamation event in a hilarious tweet.
Following on from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Thursday, September 8 – her son and heir to the throne instantly became King.
Today (September 10), the City of London saw the Privy Council gather with King Charles, Camilla Queen Consort, and the Prince of Wales, in order to formerly announce Charles as the new Monarch.

With the historic event airing on television for the first time, the nation watched on while mourning the late Queen as the Monarch was announced, formally, on screens up and down the kingdom.
Taking to Twitter, Dawn – who had clearly tuned into the event – posted a snap of a member from the procession at King Charles III’s proclamation when she penned: “I’ve been quite busy this morning…”
Making the hilarious jibe at herself, Dawn clearly saw a resemblance between herself and the lady dressed in uniform at the event which took place at St James’ Palace.

Twitter went absolutely wild after the Vicar Of Dibley actress and comedian made the hilarious comment – which seemed to lighten the mood of the nation ever so slightly amid these dark days.
“I’m sorry but this is hilarious of Dawn French to say,” penned one of her followers.
“God I love her,” exclaimed another while a third said: “This has tickled me.”
A fourth declared: “The Vicar of Dibley has been promoted!!!!”
“Absolutely brilliant, although I thought it was Elton John at first,” joked a fifth.
While someone else branded Dawn “a national treasure” and another thanked her for “bringing a smile to the nation’s face”.
