Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker has confirmed her pregnancy in a rather bold way – by debuting her baby bump on the BRITs red carpet.
She is expecting another baby with hubby Christian Contreras.
The pair already share one child together, as they welcomed a daughter back in 2015, who they have since kept out of the spotlight.
The actress, 39, had a rather unusual way of confirming that she is expecting a new addition to her family, looking stunning in an elegant cream-and-orange dress by luxury British brand Cimone.
She couldn’t help but cradle her bump as she made her way along the red carpet.
Before her BRITs appearance, Jodie had kept her pregnancy a secret and her cards close to her chest, as she prefers to keep her personal life out of the spotlight.
Jodie opted for a glamorous make-up look, matching her lipstick to the orange of her stunning gown and finishing off the ensemble with a pair of chunky black sandals.
She clutched a tiny black bag studded with silver in her right hand as she posed for the cameras with her blonde hair slicked into a sleek quiff.
Speaking about Jodie’s dress, creative director Carli Pearson worked with stylist Helen Sykes to create the perfect blend of style.
Pearson commented of the look: “We chose orange because it is a powerful and divisive colour, you either love it or hate it – it’s flamboyant, determined, and designed to make a splash – it’s not a colour for a wallflower.
“This polarising quality is analogous with the theory behind our dynamic ever-changing ‘embroidery’.”
Jodie married her American actor husband Christian Contreras in 2008 – but admitted she doesn’t “divulge” anything about her partner.
She told The Mirror of their relationship: “He’s from Tucson and I’m from Huddersfield.
“But I don’t divulge stuff about him, because I don’t think he’d appreciate it when he’s not here to speak for himself. We do get comments like, ‘Where the hell did you two meet?’ We’re like an international couple.”
It comes as Jodie is set to leave her role as The Doctor – the first ever female actor to hold the position – after the upcoming series, having had the goal of completing three seasons of the BBC sci-fi show.
Speaking of her decision to leave, Jodie said: “I feel like I will be filled with a lot of grief for it because I kind of… Even thinking about it, it makes me upset. But this show needs new energy.
“The Doctor, the joy of this part is you hand on your boots – and you hand them on. And I don’t know who, but whoever that is, what a thing to go, ‘You are going to have a right time’.”
