Emmerdale newcomer Karene Peter says Naomi 'has an edge' and teases dark secrets

Emmerdale star Karene Peter has teased the future of her character Naomi, suggesting she has an “edge” – and could be harbouring some secrets.

The newcomer has been unveiled as the on-screen daughter of vicar Charles Anderson, who found out from his ex-wife Esme that he had a long-lost daughter he knew nothing about in addition to his son Ethan.

As Charles storms into the bar where Naomi works, he finds her embroiled in a row with her manager and steps in, accidentally revealing his identity as Naomi’s father.

Karene says Naomi ‘has an edge’

“It’s funny because I feel like Naomi is similar to me in some ways but different, so Kevin and I get on very, very well.”

She added: “One of my first scenes with him was finding out that he was my dad and it’s all very intense between us. We haven’t quite got to the part where we’ve resolved things in our relationship yet so it is intense.

“My first day was shooting scenes where I found out about Charles, and I had a bit of an argument with the bar manager – because Naomi has got a bit of an edge.”

Speaking about her character, Karene elaborated: “She’s a little bit misunderstood, but I think as we get to know her, she’s got many facets to her.

“I think we do meet her under not so great circumstances, but throughout the story she redeems herself, and you see different sides to Naomi, definitely.”
