Emmerdale fans were first introduced to mysterious newcomer Marcus Dean (Darcy Gray) last month.
He first arrived in the village after being contacted by Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), who had a message from Marcus’ father Pierce Harris for him.
Marcus was later contacted by Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) posing as Rhona, telling him it was a mistake and that she had never reached out to him.
Marcus later showed up in the village and he and Rhona discovered Vanessa’s deceit.
Rhona and Marcus talked and opened up about their experiences with evil Pierce.
Marcus considered going to see his dad but, before he had the chance to, he got a call from the prison informing him that Pierce had died.
He later met up with solicitor Ethan Anderson (Emile John) at Café Main Street to discuss his fathers will.
Emmerdale spoilers have revealed that Ethan and Marcus will grow closer in upcoming scenes despite Rhona trying to interfere in their relationship.
While fans believe Marcus’ dad is evil rapist Pierce, there maybe more than meets the eye with the character.
Bookies have Marcus to be exposed as not Pierce Harris’ biological son at 7/2.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told Daily Star: “Things are far from over in Marcus’ story, and at this point we can’t confidently rule out a parental shock in the coming weeks and months.”
Could Marcus be related to another villager?
Not much has been mentioned about Marcus’ mum since his arrival.
Sharing their thoughts online, one fan of the ITV soap seemed to think that Marcus’ mum could be Tess Harris (Nee Merton), who previously had an affair with fan favourite Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).
Jumping onto Twitter, one curious fan questioned: “Is Marcus Tess’ son?”
Tess was Pierce’s first wife – so it does make sense that she could be related to Marcus by blood.
She first appeared in the village in 2015 but the character didn’t last in Dales very long.
In 2016, Tess passed away after she was accidentally run over by Kirin Kotecha while he was drink driving.
Previously opened up about about playing Marcus, actor Darcy Gray said: “He’s very interesting, I think, he’s also a bit of an outcast, he doesn’t necessarily know what his position is and the interesting point at this part of the storyline is that all of a sudden it has shifted what he thought was a calm life.
“He’s got himself a job, he knows where his mum lives and he thought he knew where he was and then all of a sudden, this piece of information comes through about his dad and it’s just shifted things and reverted it back to this unstable position for him.”
Fans will have to wait and see what drama Marcus is faced with in the village.
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7.30pm
