Gladiators star Lightning, 49, shows off ageless appearance years after show ended

Gladiators star Lightning has floored BBC Breakfast viewers with her ‘ageless’ appearance.

The TV legend, 49 – whose real name is Kim Betts – appeared on the programme on Friday (August 26).

While speaking to hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt about the forthcoming Gladiators revival series alongside her former co-star Sharron ‘Amazon’ Davies, fans of the show quickly flocked to Twitter to share their admiration for the “hot” star.

One fan wrote: “Wow! After all this time Lightning from Gladiators still looks great.”

Another said: “Gladiators is on its way back. Cannot believe I still think Lightning is hot.”

Meanwhile, a third fan commented: “Lightning from Gladiators is on @BBCBreakfast. This is the best start to a day EVER.”

“For the record @BBCBreakfast I would watch 50 year old women running around in bikinis,” another fan concluded.

Lightning’s appearance on the show coincidences with the confirmation Gladiators will return to screens in 2023.

The landmark series will introduce a new generation of ‘superhumans’ for contestants to battle in the “ultimate test of speed and strength”.

Previously aired on ITV, the reboot will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The show’s original eight-year run, which was presented by Ulrika Jonsson and Fashanu, ended in 2000.

Sky One briefly revamped the show in 2008 with Ian Wright and Kirsty Gallagher taking on hosting duties alongside the late Caroline Flack.

Renowned for her almost undefeated run on Hang Tough, Lightning competed on the UK show as well as international series.

She also took part in two Legends specials in the 2008 reboot.

Following her Gladiators fame, Lightning invested in a beauty parlour and fishery.

She later spent 15 years working as a property developer while maintaining her gym-honed physique.

Gladiators will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2023.
