Richard Madeley accused Boris Johnson of “snorting with laughter” during an interview over Downing Street party claims – with over 100 MP’s on the attendee list.
According to recent reports, around 40 staff members are said to have attended a gathering on May 20, 2020 – with Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie both said to have joined.
The 65-year-old TV host claimed to Good Morning Britain viewers that the Prime Minister appeared to be grinning when challenged over claims of a “bring your own booze” party during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now fuming, the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Star! demanded for Mr Johnson to provide answers and this time “without a giggle”.
Both Richard and his co-star Susanna Reid, 51, could not withhold their anger during an interview with Conservative Party member Edward Argar.
During the discussion with the MP, Richard requested for the clip of the Prime Minister allegedly sniggering to be shown on the programme.
In the segment, Mr Johnson appeared to smirk before responding that he couldn’t comment on the situation because it was “under investigation”.
Richard fumed: “It’s embarrassing isn’t it?
“I mean he’s snorting with laughter at something that is of huge importance to so many people, people of who couldn’t go to funerals, who couldn’t see their loved ones and dying in care homes and there he is laughing in the face of the question.
“You have to agree that it’s not a good look?”
Mr Argar responded: “To be fair Richard I don’t think he was laughing at the question, I suspect that he was expecting that question and responded to it.
“I think the Prim Minister tends to take this incredibly seriously.
“I think I’m the only Minister in the Department of Health who was there at pre-pandemic and has been throughout I have seen all aspects of this pandemic and on regular occasions coming on your programme and Susanna’s programme and having to talk about some incredible traumatic and difficult things.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
