Graham Norton has said the reaction to Queen Elizabeth II’s death is “not rational”.
The late monarch passed away on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96 inside Balmoral Castle.
Her funeral took place on Monday (September 19), with Britain partaking in a 10-day period of national mourning which included the Queen lying-in-state for four days inside Westminster Hall.

In a recent interview, Graham reflected on the public’s response to her passing.
Having never met her late majesty, the Irish broadcaster, 59, expressed his surprise at the intensity of people’s feelings.

Graham told The Times: “It’s gorgeous to see the way people respond.
“It’s not rational. But it’s genuine.”
Born in Ireland, Graham has lived in England for the past 40 years.
Unsurprisingly, he was not among a number of celebrities to attend the late monarch’s funeral on Monday – though other famous presenters including David Attenborough were spotted inside Westminster Abbey.

Other famous faces in attendance at the service included Bear Grylls, Gary Barlow, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sandra Oh and Peep Show star Sophie Winkleman.
Alongside several former Prime Ministers, the current PM Liz Truss and US President Joe Biden, they joined a royal congregation including King Charles III, Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Rod Stewart’s wife and Loose Women star Penny Lancaster, meanwhile, was helping to police the event.

Earlier this month, Graham reportedly married his mystery long-term partner.
The broadcaster is said to have tied the knot in his native West Cork, Ireland at the four-star venue Bantry House with 120 guests in attendance.
Celebrity attendees are said to have included Scottish singer Lulu and drag performer Panti Bliss.
