Hairy Bikers' Dave Myers leaves fans in tears over first TV gig since cancer diagnosis

Fans were left in tears as The Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers made his first TV appearance since being diagnosed with cancer seven months ago.

Celebrity chef Dave, 65, who rose to fame on The Hairy Bikers alongside fellow star Simon ‘Si’ King, revealed earlier this year that he was undergoing treatment for cancer.

The star has since made a return to TV with an appearance on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, as he joined Simon and chef Matt Tebutt to prepare a festive feast.

“We’re going to be doing a coffee and hazelnut cake, it’s a symphony where nuts meet coffee.

“Honestly, it’s so good for Christmas, the angel Gabriel has wafted across your tonsils.”

Fans were left in tears by Dave’s appearance, with many flocking to social media to celebrate the return of the beloved TV chef to our screens.

“How lovely to see #DaveMyers back on TV. That’s a Christmas pressie, right there,” one commented, while another viewer tweeted: “Fabulous today and marvellous to see Dave Myers looking so well.”

He also praised the medical team who had been looking after him, saying: “I’ve got to give a shout out to the doctors and nurses in Birmingham who put me back together, the surgeon who got me walking again and nurse Marion who, before my chemo, brings me cake in. Best banana bread ever.

“But it is lovely to be back. Si’s been looking after me, filling my freezer with mince and dumplings.

“Being back on Saturday Kitchen is great, I think the first time we were here was 15 years ago.”
