Glastonbury has never had any trouble attracting the biggest names in the business, and this year it’s stacked with major talent.
One of the biggest music events in not just the UK, but the whole world, Glastonbury is the place to be for musicians and music lovers alike.
It starts on Wednesday June 22 and lasts until Sunday June 26 this year.
Headliners include Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney, with many more as well.
There have also been some serious rumours for surprise performers, though some are more believable than others.
Harry Styles
Right off the back of the release of his new album Harry’s House, almost every major festival wants the former One Direction star to play this year.
There is reason to be hopeful too, as a source told the Daily Star: “Harry’s name was mentioned a few times as a possible performer at Glasto 2020 but they felt it was still too early.
“However, his music has connected with so many more people since then and his live performances are even better, which has all the festivals after his signature.”
He has never played Glastonbury before, so if he shows up it would be a night to remember.
Taylor Swift
Swifties have been holding out hope for Harry’s ex Taylor to grace the stage – after all, she was set to do just that in 2020.
The mega-star was booked in to close Glastonbury that year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic the show was completely cancelled.
As the festival hasn’t already announced her return, it seems unlikely she will be making an appearance in 2022.
Guns N’ Roses
Guns N’ Roses also fell victim to the chaos of 2020, as even though they weren’t confirmed to perform, their summer tour put them right on track to make an appearance.
During Glastonbury this year, they are just across the North Sea in the Netherlands, but it doesn’t mean there is zero chance they could race across the English Channel.
As they are heading to Ireland for the following Tuesday, many are hoping they could make a pitstop in England – it is halfway there after all.
Arctic Monkeys
The Sheffield rock legends have been rumoured to be writing a new album for a while now.
It’s putting them on track for an incredible busy year, but their manager Ian McAndrew teased fans last December with some surprises in 2022.
Speaking to Music Week, he said: “In this rather disjointed time, the guys are beavering away and I hope that next year they’ll start working on some new songs, new ideas, with a view on a future release.”
Elton John
Elton John’s belated Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will bring the legendary Rocketman’s live performance career to a close.
It’s a bittersweet victory lap, but one that isn’t complete until he heads over to the UK to play at Hyde Park on June 24.
He has never featured on the iconic Pyramid Stage, so many fans are hoping he can find the time to make an appearance.
He will be just around the corner as well, so why not gun it down the M4 for a quick gig?
What is the Glastonbury line-up so far?
This year’s show is already boasting more serious heavy hitters with Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar leading the line-up.
That’s just the start though, with the current full list of headliners including:
- Diana Ross
- Sam Fender
- Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
- Wolf Alice
- Rufus Wainwright
- Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
- AJ Tracey
- Lorde
- Elbow
The full line-up can be found on the Glastonbury website, along with when they are playing.
