Former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Paul Burrell told Lorraine Kelly he thinks the British public will “tease” Matt Hancock during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the former Health Secretary will be heading into the celebrity jungle as a wildcard, a decision that was met with a barrage of criticism and led to his suspension from the Tory party.
Speaking on the ITV morning show, Paul, who took part in I’m A Celeb in 2004, believes the British public won’t hold back.

“The Great British public have a way of teasing when it comes to the jungle,” he laughed after being asked on his thoughts of the MP joining the show.
Speaking seriously on the matter, the former butler to Princess Diana wondered how the MP would be able to look after his constituency during his time in the jungle.
He said: “How can he look after the people who voted for him in that constituency? That, I’m not sure of.”
After the announcement regarded Matt’s appearance on the show, it was reported the MP for West Suffolk would be granted “special permission” to have contact with the outside world, should there be an emergency at his constituency.
Deputy chairman of the West Suffolk Conservative Association, Andy Drummond, said he was looking forward to seeing Mr Hancock “eating a kangaroo’s penis”, in line with Paul’s idea of how the public will treat Matt.
In defence of joining the I’m A Celeb cast, Matt wrote in The Sun that although some may think he’s “lost [his] marbles or had one too many drinks”, the £400,000 pay cheque isn’t what’s spurring him on.
“It’s as clear as day that politicians like me must go to where the people are,” he wrote.
“Rather than looking down on reality TV, we should see it for what it is — a powerful tool to get our message heard by younger generations.
“I want to use this incredible platform to raise awareness, so no child leaves primary school not knowing if they have dyslexia,” he continued.
