Now, Katie is returning to the stage and admits that she took inspiration from her son Hudson, four, as well as therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Appearing on GB News, the songstress said: “I am a classically trained pianist. I started writing songs when I was 14 years old. Recently I found the courage through PTSD therapy to get a piano for my home again because it’s been such a long time.
“My son Hudson and I often do carpool karaoke, I like to speak about music in the car on the way to school and during the holidays.
“We were speaking about whom we’re celebrating with and how there are some family members that are no longer with us. I said, ‘It makes me sad’ and my son said, ‘Well, no, if you just use your imagination and you believe in magic then they can be here with you too’ and that’s what sparked the song.”
Katie is releasing her new song, Believe, which she has written herself.
Speaking about getting back into performing, Katie continued: “I’ve not performed in a decade, thank goodness for PTSD therapy, because if it weren’t for that, I don’t think I could have ever found the strength or courage to do that.
“It’s taken a lot, I hope it may be an inspiration to anyone that feels like they can’t get over a hurdle, if you absolutely allow yourself to put in work from a mental health standpoint you can overcome anything.”
Speaking previously to Daily Star, Katie previously explained she had emailed Dominic Raab in order to request a meeting to discuss “much-needed changes”.
The law graduate said: “The email was to Dominic Raab, for an in-person meeting request to discuss the much-needed changes and amendments to the Human Rights Act, Dominic Raab is currently trying to replace the Human Rights Act with a new Bill of Rights in the UK.
“The in-person meeting request is to discuss a potential way to provide those within the Creative Industry Sector their absolute right to file a claim under the Human Rights Act, with the intention to extend this to all Industry Sectors, providing those within, the essential safeguarding and protection needed.
“The advancements and amendments within the Law and Legislations therein should quintessentially run parallel with the fast-growing efforts of the people, in order to ensure protection, guidance and justice for posterity.”
