Emmerdale viewers gobsmacked as Cain 'replaced' by 'identical' younger actor

Emmerdale fans were blown away as Cain Dingle was ‘replaced’ on the ITV soap for Boxing Day.

The soap aired a major shake-up as, interspersed between scenes of Cain in prison, a flashback scene aired showing a younger version of him along with a teenage Chas.

The pair were shown to be living together after escaping their abusive situation with Shadrach, struggling to buy food and get by.

Later, Cain headed to the garage where he was met by a younger version of his long-lost brother Caleb, who showed up on Christmas Day.

But the young Cain, played by Aiden Kane, had fans blown away as his mannerisms and accent totally matched the adult Jeff Hordley’s.

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, one fan said: “Young Cain sounds just like older Cain lol.”

A second added: “The actor playing Cain back in the 90’s got Cain’s voice down to a tee.”

While a third penned: “Young Cain is f***ing spot on omg.”

“Emmerdale! This is brilliant and actor playing “young” Cain is so credible,” a fourth shared.

Caleb was played by young actor Riccardo Drayton, who gushed about his time on set of the soap to his own Twitter followers.

Cain star Jeff Hordley is a fan favourite on the ITV soap

Sharing a snap of Will Ash, Jeff Hordley and the two flashback actors, he said: “Was an amazing experience getting to work with these guys and an honour to be a part of the Boxing Day Special.”

Young Cain star Aiden added: “It really was an ace experience, and such a pleasure working with you pal.”

Jeff opened up to Daily Star about how the young stars echoed his own mannerisms, explaining: “We were lucky enough to get to meet them. They watched us do a scene and we watched them do a scene and they asked us questions.

“The two young actors were absolutely brilliant. I was speaking to [producer] Jane [Hudson] and she said, ‘Oh my gosh, the guy who plays young Cain has got all your mannerisms!’

“He’s really studied all my little acting habits or idiosyncrasies – whatever you wanna call them – and they were really good young actors. We need to see more of them!”
