Love Island 2022 has had its fair share of dramas, from Tasha’s pieing scandal to Davide branding Ekin-Su a “liar, an actress”.
There have also been plenty of cosier scenes in which fans at home have watched contestants snuggle up under the covers – and often do much more than cuddle.
So the Majorcan villa is well used to things that go ‘hump’ in the night, but what about the scarier side of things? Fans at home might be surprised to learn that the property is built on a UFO hotspot – perhaps the reason for the wealth of paranormal activity that has bugged stars of the show.

From tiny purple aliens providing phone hacking services to a blonde girl stalking the halls, Daily Star takes a look into the Haunting of Love Island.
Tiny purple aliens
Let’s face it – the 2022 series of Love Island wouldn’t be half as much fun without Turkish beauty Ekin-Su.
She’s been entertaining fans at home since day dot, when the bombshell found herself crawling around the property for a cheeky liaison, stirring things up between the cast-mates.
During one episode of Unseen Bits, Ekin opened up about how aliens have hacked her phone in a bizarre move for the little purple men.
Speaking to beau Davide, Ekin explained: “When I was 22 in my home. I was in my room with my little brother and we were just chilling and there was like flashing news and people were spotting UFO’s and we were like ‘come on’.
“I looked outside my window and there was like a white circle, a disc.”
She said the disc quickly disappeared, before elaborating: “My cousin Facetimed me from Turkey, I opened Facetime, there were three alien heads interfering with my f***ing Facetime.
“Purple heads, three of them, with eyes. I screenshot it and sent it to the BBC News to say ‘look I’ve been invaded by aliens’ at the same time they saw the UFOs.”
Ekin insisted she was sober at the time, adding: “I’ve seen a ghost, I saw an alien. It always happens to me.”
It isn’t the only time the Islander opened up about her paranormal experiences, as Ekin insisted she’s also spotted a spirit lurking in the Love Island villa.
She urgently told her housemates: “I swear on my little brother’s life that I saw it. Whether you want to believe it or not is up to you.”
Jacques at the time admitted he “believes in the paranormal”, while Paige also confessed the spirit does exist.
Blonde girl haunts hallways
It isn’t the first time an Islander has spotted strange things happening in the villa, as way back in 2019 Joanna Chimonides admitted that the stars thought the entire place was haunted.
Speaking to Daily Star, she explained: “We had some weird stuff happen in the villa while I was there. We think the place is haunted.
“One time Jourdan was convinced she had seen a ghost.
“She said she had been woken up suddenly and there was this blonde woman bent over her bed and rocking back and forwards.
“She said it looked like Belle but of course it wasn’t her. I said to her, ‘Did you actually see a ghost?’ and she was totally convinced. It freaked us all out.”
Fans spot poltergeist
Eagle-eyed viewers back home have spotted a few spooky things during this season too, as objects appeared to move by themselves.
During June 23rd’s episode of Unseen Bits, dumper Islander Billy could be seen doing some cooking in the kitchen area – but viewers caught a glimpse of a carton of juice behind him falling to the floor unprompted.
Viewers flocked to Twitter in their droves to point out the paranormal activity, as one penned: “So now we have the juice curse as well? The villa is haunted!”
“WHAT IN THE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY HAPPENED TO THAT JUICE,” someone else babbled, while a third fan tweeted: “All jokes aside how tf did apple juice fall off the table by itself?”
And another posted: “Nah because that juice carton just lifted up and moved on its own, that is NOT okay.”

2020’s series of Winter Love Island in Cape Town, South Africa, was reportedly a ‘hotspot’ for alien activity.
An odd mix of odd looking crafts and bright lights were sighted over Constantia, where the villa was located, and members of UFO South Africa reported “oval objects in the clouds”.
Reports also emerged of “a round white shiny object floating above the houses” and “a bright orange light that zoomed from the mountain”.
Others saw “three strange objects humming and flying about a high as a 747” and “bizarre satellites with powerful headlights in the sky that suddenly vanished”.
A show source said at the time: “It seems our next bombshells might be aliens! It would be a TV first if E.T. walked in looking for love.”
