While the programme has certainly delivered many highs for islanders over the years there have also been occasional lows that have panned out on-air that have left viewers “concerned”.
Although it is rare for an incident or injury to take place on the programme, there have been a few notable illnesses that have been called out by fans over the years.
If you’d blinked, then some calls for concern would have certainly been missed but Daily Star has complied them all.
Here, Daily Star uncovers the details of mysterious illnesses and injuries that were briefly aired.
Mysterious cuts and bruises
During the 2021 series online fans became increasingly worried for bombshell Chloe Burrows after she’d appeared on the programme with some noticeable cuts and bruises that had not been explained.
At the time, the TV beauty had been wearing a thigh grazing and sleeveless nude dress, which made the markings across her legs and arms even more visible to those watching at home.
Thankfully Chloe’s family who were in charge of her social media feed cleared things up for inquisitive followers on Instagram.
When one person wrote beneath a post on the platform, “She’s accident prone… all the bruising,” Chloe’s family responded with confirmation this had been true.
They explained: “She bruises like an absolute peach.
“She fell over messing about and that’s how she hurt her hip, she’s okay.”
Her family also joked: “Apparently she walked into a tree the other day lol.”
Unusual skin marking
Alarm bells also started to ring this year when actress Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu sent Twitter into a frenzy after a small mark was exposed on her right shoulder.
Many concerned users online suspected that the Turkish beauty could have been suffering from a painful sun-blister as they urged for Ekin-Su to use suncream in the Spanish heat.
One tweet read: “Was that a blister on Ekin’s arm earlier, mom pls wear ur spf :(.”
“Anyone know what happened to Ekin’s arm?” said a second, while a third asked: “What’s on Ekin’s arm??? Is it a sun blister??? Those hurt like hell.”
Fortunately for the singer and acting star the problem didn’t seem to be persistent and had all but vanished by the next day.
Urgent hospital dash
Back in 2019, panic was sparked among fans after Scottish hunk Anton Danyluk was nowhere to be seen.
It was later confirmed that the fitness fanatic had been raced to hospital after he’d become seriously dehydrated and needed to urgent medical assistance.
After leaving the villa, Anton was forced to address the situation after there had been lots of anxiety surrounding his disappearance.
In an interview with The Sun, he said: “I had a bit of a fever and I went to see the medic, and basically they just wanted to send me to hospital to double check everything, it turned out I was a little bit dehydrated.”
He added: “I was drinking loads of water, but I must stress that ITV checked you are drinking enough every single day, they check you once and then again at dinner time.
“The problem was I was training in the heat, and I was drinking a lot of coffee, so it was just overnight they had to rehydrate me and put a drip in me.”
Family taken ill
The year of 2016 proved to be explosive, especially when Miss Great Britain winner Zara Holland was stripped of her title crown after she’d performed a sex act on Alex Bowen which was captured on camera.
Zara appeared to be in for a run of bad luck, with her mum being taken seriously ill during her stint on the reality show.
Producers broke the news to Zara and she made a difficult decision which was to leave early to support her sick mother.
In a statement issued at the time, she said: “I’m so sad to leave the villa but it’s important for me to get home and spend time with my mum while she gets better.”
