Actor Matt Smith, 39, revealed that he was called “grandad” by Prince Harry following his appearance in Netflix’s The Crown.
The former Doctor Who star, who currently appears in HBO’s House of Dragon, appeared on NBC The Today show on Thursday (September 15), where he opened up about the Royal encounter.
The actor famously played a young Prince Philip in Netflix’s hit, The Crown, alongside his onscreen wife Claire Foy, 38, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth II.

Matt opened up about the hilarious moment and said: “I met Harry once at the polo, which sounds a bit grand, but it wasn’t that grand.
“He rocked up to me, and he went, ‘Grandad’,”.
Matt continued before admitting he doesn’t know if the royal still watches The Crown.
He said: “I can’t claim to know if he watches it currently, but he’d watched a bit of it.”
“Everyone wants to know, I mean, have you ever gotten the inside scoop on whether the royals…whether the Queen or Prince Philip watched?” the host asked.

Matt replied: “I’ve heard the Queen had watched it. She used to watch it on a projector on a Sunday night, apparently.”
However, it seems Prince Philip didn’t have the same enthusiasm as his wife because, according to Matt, he refused to watch it.
“I know that Philip definitely didn’t,” the star claimed. “A friend of mine sat next to him at dinner once, and he asked him.
“Actually, I think Philip asked my friend if he’d made The Crown, and then the first course came out and then the second course came out and then the third course came out, and my friend couldn’t resist by the end of the meal.
“He was like, ‘Philip, I have to ask, have you watched The Crown?’ and apparently he turned around to him and went, ‘Don’t be ridiculous.'”
Season one of the Crown portrayed the royal in the early days of her reign, the death of her father, King George VI, and her iconic wedding day to Prince Philip.
