Michael Jackson’s eldest son Prince has shared a poignant message from his father which comes in the wake of the horrific Texas school massacre.
On May 24, teenager Salvador Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas – killing 19 children and two adults in his uncontrollable rampage.
Since Tuesday’s tragedy, many American celebrities have taken to social media to condemn the use of guns within their country.
Prince was one of those stars who used his Instagram platform to demand political change while using his father’s eery words to ensure the message was received loud and clear.
The hitmaker’s stark warning was filmed before his tragic passing in June 2009 and seemed even more poignant given the heartbreaking situation in Texas.
In the video, Michael delivered an empowering speech, he said: “Who among us would have believed that the sound of children at their playgrounds would be replaced by automatic machine-gun fire at our schools.
“That the sound of a little girl skipping rope would be overshadowed by the frantic shrills of children dodging bullets.
“Yet instead of loving our children more, we install metal detectors in our schools.”
This was followed up with a caption from his eldest son Prince which read: “No caption needed,” and a crying emoji.
Prince went on to add: “Truly heartbreaking to see all this ignorant and unnecessary violence being enacted against the innocent and defenceless.
“I’m still lost for words and I don’t know what could be done but something must be done.
“Please keep the victims and survivors of these horrible crimes in your thoughts. prayers and hearts.”
Masses of fans flocked to the post, telling Prince that his dad “was ahead of his time” and that people “should have listened”.
One person penned: “So sad. This deserves a repost.”
Another echoed: “So sad that years ago we were already talking about it. It’s a real scourge in the United States… I’m so terrified.”
A third said: “If everyone learned from Michael the world would be a better place.”
While a fourth person penned: “You dad was ahead of his time, I wish people would have listened to him. I love you guys.”
