BBC Breakfast turned awkward as Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt jokingly locked horns on Friday’s programme.
TV presenter Naga, 46, introduced a bird watching segment but as the camera’s flashed to two swinging feeders – there didn’t appear to be any winged species lurking around for food.
Charlie, 59, explained: “What we have now is hopefully a place where birds will gather today as we get a bit of light, this is in Wareham Forest and I have to say we’ve had this shot there for a while, sort of in the corner of the studio here.”
He added: “There hasn’t been much going on here. Reportedly, I got this confirmed earlier on a squirrel was seen on the platform.
“So one squirrel so far, no other birds.”
“No there were birds this morning apparently.
“Before we came on air it was dark and Matt was saying ‘It’s quite chilly’ but there were birds this morning,” corrected Naga.
“What bird’s? Do you know?” hit back Charlie.
“Robin,” responded his co-star who had seemingly been tipped off by producers in her ear.
Charlie told viewers: “A Robin was seen. But there lies the jeopardy.”
Pointing to producers, Charlie fumed: “Have we not got it on anymore, it could happen at any time, that’s the thing.”
“Look we’ve got it on our screen if it happens…” fumed Naga.
“Just as we cut off it could be the moment when Mike was saying we could see an Owl,” interjected her partner on the red sofa.
“Oh well, what do you want to see a vulture? I mean come on, we’re not going to see an Owl.
“Owl’s are night creatures,” pointed out Naga.
“It’s still dark out there,” insisted Charlie.
Wanting to prove a point, Naga asked BBC chiefs: “Can we have a look at the picture again please?
“It’s light now,” she responded.
