Baby-faced Barret Oliver was catapulted to stardom by hit movie The NeverEnding Story way back in 1984.
At the time, he was a perfect fit for the role of vulnerable Bastian Balthazar Bux.
But these days, he’s completely unrecognisable after quitting acting for a different, slightly unusual, career.

The popular film tells the tale of Bastian, a young bookworm who is hiding from bullies when he finds a novel about a fantasy world that he’s subsequently transported to.
Oliver, who was just 11 years old at the time, reads the book titled The NeverEnding Story in the school attic.
Fans will remember that in the world of Fantasia, he has to battle against the Nothing, a malevolent force which is spreading across the land, to save the kingdom.
Despite the film’s release 38-years ago, it’s still fondly remembered and has a 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, this was not Oliver’s only big break in Hollywood, as he was also in Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, as well as D.A.R.Y.L., The Secret Garden, Cocoon, and Cocoon: The Return.
His last role was in 1989, when he was around 16, in Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills.
The reason he left his acting career is unknown but he is now working in a completely different role.
Fans may be surprised to see what he looks like now as he is completely different from the sweet baby-faced boy.
Oliver doesn’t use social media but he has been pictured with long dreadlocks and a huge beard.
The 48-year-old is now a successful printer and photographer specialising in 19th century printing processes.
His work has been displayed in museums, art galleries and has been used in films. In 2007, he also published a history book about the Woodburytype, a printing process from the 1800s.
Not much is known about his life now but he is known to be passionate about history and photography.
Oliver returned back on screen when he appeared in a 2012 short movie about his craft called “In the Usual Manner”.
