Wild rocker Pete Doherty has admitted he is “surprised” he is not dead or “sat in a hedge” injecting drugs.
The Babyshambles star also revealed how he is missing chunks of his body from his rock days – including both earlobes after they were bitten off in fights.
Pete, 43, said: “I’m surprised I’m not dead. I’ve managed to get out of the addictive cycle, but I was pretty f****d. I’ve entered a phase of rejuvenation.
“Marriage is the bolster. I have the love and support of someone I love.
“I’m blessed to be alive, not sat in a hedge in Old Street, injecting into my groin.”

Dad-of-two Pete – whose former fiancées include models Kate Moss and Irina Lazareanu – got hitched to his Puta Madres bandmate, Katia de Vidas, last year.
He’s been spotted walking his husky near his country home in Norm-andy, northern France.
Looking back on his wild days, Pete added: “I’ve got chunks missing all over the place.

“I was swinging at the paparazzi in Italy – the guy took his camera, had me by the throat and bit off part of my earlobe.
“Someone else bit off part of my other earlobe in a pub in Stoke. I think he just wanted a souvenir.”
Former junkie Pete says he’s now “mostly clean”, and mainly opts for “a nice glass of water” over booze.

He said his attempts to get clean have included therapy with Thai monks.
He said: “You swallow a bucket of water, take this mixture of bark, berries and mud and release your demons as you vomit.”
Later on in the year, Doherty will unveil his first autobiography A Likely Lad.
The publication is set for release on June 16 with the musician working with Simon Spence to get the book over the line.
“Doherty’s version of the story – the genuine man behind the fame and infamy. This is a rock memoir like no other,” explains the intriguing synopsis.
