Piers Morgan has slammed the “ridiculous decision” to cancel this weekend’s Premier League football matches after Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
Slamming the decision to postpone the football games, Piers was completely unimpressed and vocalised his unhappiness on his Twitter page.
Taking to Twitter, the official Premier League account penned: “As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed.”

Piers slammed the announcement, clearly unimpressed, and responded with: “Ridiculous decision,” with a thumbs down emoji.
One fan asked: “They cancelled when Dianna died so it would seem very disrespectful for them not to do it for The Queen?”
While a second person echoed: “No it’s not Piers. This is a historic moment marking the passing of our much loved Queen. I understand your and others’ sentiments but we must pay our respects in a sombre mood this weekend, sport and its fans can and I’m sure will show their respect to the world’s greatest ever Queen.”
But some agreed with Piers’ views, with one person writing: “You’re grand to go to work the day after her sad death but don’t you dare try to have fun when you finish working. You must sit in your house watching looped reports on her death. Reminds me of Covid times!”
While another added: “The FA have cancelled all grassroots games too so kids cannot play over the weekend. This is a disgusting decision and a massive overreaction when respect could have been made through minutes of silence, even black armbands. Total overreaction.”
This comes after Piers’ sweet tribute to “the greatest Monarch in history” following the announcement of her death yesterday evening.
“RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 96. The greatest Monarch in history, and the greatest of Britons,” he penned on Twitter.
“Dignified, humble, wise, stoic, and dedicated to duty & service to the country she loved. Thank you for everything, Ma’am. We will be forever indebted to you.”
Her Majesty’s death came after the palace revealed that the 96-year-old Monarch was under “medical supervision”.
Hours later at 6:30pm, the news broke that Her Majesty has died “peacefully” at her home in Balmoral, Scotland.
