Prince Harry’s famous ex-girlfriend, actress Cressida Bonas, has paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II following her death on Thursday (September 8)

Buckingham Palace announced the devastating news about the monarch’s passing at the age of 96 with a short statement.

It read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

After the emotional news was announced, a slew of famous faces and adoring fans took to social media to share their heartache online.

In amongst the slew of tributes online, the Double Date star, 33, shared an emotional post on Instagram.

In full view of her 57.9k followers, she shared a candid snap of the royal at her home in Balmoral as she gave a loving embrace with one of her dogs alongside a loving tribute.

She penned: “We were so blessed to have you as our Queen. Thank you [white heart emoji].”

But she isn’t the only famous face who dated the Duke of Sussex who has passed on their tributes to the queen, as songstress Ellie Goulding shared a carousel of snaps of Her Royal Highness throughout her reign which accompanied a lengthy caption.

She penned: “This seemed inconceivable … A remarkable woman. 70 years of service as the Head of State. The UK’s longest serving monarch.

“Grace, strength, duty… in times of constant flux. Hard to imagine this country without you. I will tell Arthur all about you, all the time. Goodnight, Your Majesty” which she signed off with a kiss.

But she wasn’t the only famous face to pass on her condolences to the grieving Royal Family, as the likes of award-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren and Stephen Fry shared their heartfelt posts online.

In amongst the grieving posts, many users struggled to hold back their tears after beloved children’s character Paddington Bear tweeted: “Thank you Ma’am, for everything” referencing their Jubilee skit earlier this year.
