Rebekah Vardy's dramatic interview compared to Prince Andrew's Newsnight chat

Rebekah Vardy’s tell-all interview has been compared to the landmark chat Prince Andrew had with Newsnight before stepping back from public service.

Jamie Vardy’s wife spoke out for the first time after a judge failed to side with her following the dramatic WAGatha Christie court case.

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star took Coleen Rooney to the High Court, claiming she was libelled after Wayne Rooney’s wife accused Rebekah’s Instagram account of leaking stories to the media.

But while Rebekah may have attempted to share her side of the story, original WAG Lizzie Cundy believes that the interview was a disaster.

Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, Lizzie, 54, said: “Yes, it was, without a doubt [a mistake], this is like the Prince Andrew interview – different charges, obviously.

“But no one’s believing, if I were Rebekah, I’d have gone away and reflected and maybe apologised.

“There was one thing that I noticed, there was no apology, very unapologetic and I’m sorry, the judge has given the verdict.

“There was no evidence, it’s not like being in a player’s bar lounge where there’s hearsay gossip.

“For court, you need facts, you need evidence and sadly for Rebekah, there wasn’t any.”

Coleen, 36, was subsequently dubbed “WAGatha Christie” after her “sting operation” which saw her post a string of false stories to the Close Friends list on her private Instagram account.

The former television star claimed that the only account which had access was that belonging to Rebekah Vardy.

But despite pleading her innocent since Coleen took to social media to share her discovery, Becky was left devastated when a judge ruled in favour of Coleen.

Mrs Justice Steyn found that Vardy, along with agent Caroline Watt, were involved in the distribution of information to The Sun newspaper.

Becky said: “It is not the result that I had expected, nor believe was just. I brought this action to vindicate my reputation and am devastated by the Judge’s finding.

“The judge accepted that publication of Coleen’s Post was not in the ‘public interest’ and she also rejected her claim that I was the ‘Secret Wag’.

“But as for the rest of her judgement, she got it wrong and this is something I cannot accept.

“As I explained in my evidence I, my family and even my unborn baby, were subjected to disgusting messages and vile abuse following Coleen’s post and these have continued even during the course of the trial. Please can the people who have been abusing me and my family now stop.

“The case is over. I want to thank everyone who has supported me.”
