A Romany traveller has demanded controversial comedian Jimmy Carr a public apology after his ill joke about Nazi’s genocide of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities on his show.
The 8 Out of 10 Cats host sparked outrage after making light of the horror that “six million Jewish lives being lost” and suggesting the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Gypsies as a “positive thing” of the Holocaust during World War II.
Carr, 49, described his Netflix show His Dark Material as a “career ender” when it was released on Christmas Day but his Holocaust comments recently came to light when it was shared to social media.
Proud Romany traveller Danielle Jo Lee was left fuming after finding out about his Holocaust joke and called it “vile” and “disgusting”.
She told Daily Star: “My whole TikTok and my point I’m trying to get across is that Gypsies aren’t what people make out, I’m trying to make a change in the world and stop getting grief towards Gypsies and the Traveller community.
“I have contacted Netflix already about taking his show down and it is discrimination! What Jimmy Carr said I believe is absolutely vile and should not be allowed.”
The 23-year-old, who previously opened up about her discrimination for being a gypsy at work, took to TikTok and condemned Jimmy Carr for his disrespectful joke.

She pointed out the comments that Carr mentioned in his stand-up comedy show and said: “He’s basically slagging the Travellers off, slagging the Gypsy community off to absolutely everyone who’s watching the show.
“I want to put it out here that we are not like that, the stereo-typical s*** that goes on over there is not true. It is not true.
“One person could have done something 10 years ago that is part of the Traveller community and because they’ve done something bad and now we are all getting s*** from it.
“My whole life has been terrorised because of who I am, because of my background, and because of being a Gypsy, I am on medication because of this.

“I suffered with PTSD because of this. I am doing TikTok trying to tell people that we are not the same, we are all different. We do as much as we can to help everyone.”
Viewers agreed with Danielle and shared their thoughts.
One said: “He wouldn’t say it if it was a person of colour or religion so why does he think this is okay?”
“No one should make any kind of joke about the Holocaust, what he said was shocking,” a second added.
Danielle told this site: “After all the years of being a comedian he’s forgotten how to make people laugh so he uses disgusting ‘jokes’ as he called towards others. He called this his dark humour jokes.
“This is beyond dark humour and he should not be allowed to get away with this!”
