The Chase's Bradley Walsh has 'no interest in Strictly' as he eyes up 'dream' BBC role

Bradley Walsh has revealed he has “no interest” in appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, as he eyes up his “dream” role on a rival BBC crime drama.

The presenter and actor, 62, hosted a celebrity special edition of The Chase on Saturday (October 29).

While introducing the ITV programme’s first celebrity guest and former Strictly star Chizzy Akudolu, Bradley revealed his desire to follow in Chizzy’s footsteps by starring in Death in Paradise.

He asked Chizzy: “Guess which job I want to do that you’ve done?”

Following a number of incorrect guesses from Chizzy, she asked if Bradley wanted to follow in her footsteps by starring on Strictly.

Bradley replied: “No.”

He later confirmed that he wished to star in “Death in Paradise” and Chizzy agreed it was a great job.

She said: “That’s a holiday. You literally work for a couple of days and then you sit on the beach.”

Death in Paradise premiered in 2011 and memorably starred Red Dwarf’s Danny John-Jules and Ben Miller.

Following Ben’s departure, Kris Marshall joined the Caribbean mystery – though both he and Danny have since quit the series.

The Royle Family star Ralf Little later joined the cast as DI Neville Parker, replacing Ardal O’Hanlon.

Death in Paradise is set on the Caribbean island of Saint-Marie and the show is filmed on the Guadeloupe Islands.

While Bradley has suggested the show would be his dream role, former Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall has previously warned that the cast would often be struck down by illnesses.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain in 2019, Kris said: “We had a different one every year.

“The first one was dengue fever, the second was chikungunya, the third was Zika and the fourth was I don’t know… plagues, locusts.

“It mainly hit the crew actually. Weirdly, the actors weren’t that badly affected… maybe because they were sleeping on the beach and we were in Sedan chairs.”

The Chase airs on ITV.
