The Chase's Jenny Ryan hits back after player brands her 'smug' in ITV studio

The Chase’s Jenny Ryan hit back at a cheeky player who called her “smug” on the ITV game show.

The brave contestant made the on-air dig at Chaser Jenny, also known as The Vixen, after show host Bradley Walsh asked her which Chaser she’d like to go up against.

Claire was the first contestant to face questions on the episode, and had just finished a successful cash-builder round where she racked up £6,000 after a shaky start.

However, when Bradley asked Claire which Chaser she’d like to take on in the next round, Claire said she’d like to try her luck against The Vixen.

Taking aim at The Vixen, Claire said she thought Jenny could be “smug” on the show and wanted to get the better of her.

She said: “I think she’s very good, but I think sometimes she’s a little bit smug, so I’d quite like to try and give her a run for her money.”

Bradley looked taken aback by the comment, looking at the camera and raising his eyebrows.

Tensions then rose in the studio when Jenny herself walked out to battle the team, and it wasn’t long before she responded to Claire’s “smug” comment.

In fact, she kept referring back to Claire’s remarks during the show, and at the end of the episode she told the player it “wasn’t smugness”, just the way her resting face looked.

Claire burst out laughing when she realised it was indeed Jenny she would be quizzing against.

Revealing his co-star, Bradley said: “There you go… it’s the queen of smug, it’s The Vixen herself, Jenny Ryan.”

Jenny said: “I’m putting on my smuggest expression, now. Hello, Classroom Claire…”

When Jenny decided to take the middle offer of £6k, Jenny mentioned the “smug” comment again.

She said: “Disappointing. You know what you needed to do to really wipe the smugness off my face, it was go for the big offer [£26k].”

Later on, though, Claire managed to make it back to her teammates with £5k after beating Jenny in the round, and her fellow contestant Robbie made it back with £5k.

Sadly for Jackie, she got caught out by The Vixen after banking £5k in her cash-builder.

Mark, on the other hand, made it back to the panel with £6k, which meant him, Claire and Robbie were in the Final Chase with a potential cash pot of £18k, meaning they could take home £6k each.

Unfortunately, all three were chased down by Jenny who caught the trio with ease despite getting pushed back on one question.
