This Morning fans in hysterics as Holly Willoughby is 'squirted' by puppet Sooty

Things took a rather awkward turn during the latest episode of ITV’s This Morning after presenter Holly Willoughby was squirted with water by Sooty.

The famous puppets Sooty and Sweep appeared on the show with Richard Cadell who is the owner and presenter of the famous teddy bear.

But as the interview came to an end, Sooty had a surprise for Holly in a form of a miniature water gun which he couldn’t help sprinkle on Holly.

Laughing uncontrollably, co-host Phillip Schofield was also left red-faced by the unexpected squirt.

Taking to Twitter, fans also shared their reactions. One person penned: “Being serious but this is actually quite funny lol…squirted by sooty.”

Another joked: “Just realised he should do and adult Sooty and Sweep show that would work.”

“Lol sooty and sweep on #thismorning. Some things never change such as the old water pistol trick!” A fourth exclaimed.

Other viewers were just pleased to see the old school puppets back on their screens and begged to see more of them.

Taking to Twitter again, one person chimed: “Thanks so much for having Sooty and Sweep on #ThisMorning! My 8 month old has been grizzly with teething all morning but Sooty and Sweep cheered her right up! She’s been mute for the whole segment.”

Meanwhile another echoed: “Can’t believe Sooty & Sweep are on tv again. Such a Monday morning pick me up to see my childhood faves making an appearance. I was OBSESSED.”

Sooty and Sweep recently hit headlines after a listed building that was once home to a Sooty themed tourist attraction could soon be turned into houses.

Despite having several uses over the years, Windhill Manor was originally built as a school in the 1870s and has been converted into office spaces in more recent times.

However, it may be remembered to some as the short lived Sooty’s Wonderful World attraction.

The listed building application that has been sent to the local council said: “Our proposals bring this listed building back to use after years of being largely empty and unused.

“We feel our proposals enhance the listed building and this, together with ensuring its future use and maintenance, will ensure the building remains a key building on the Shipley landscape for years to come.”
