Ulrika Jonsson has slammed Molly-Mae Hague after the former reality TV star sparked backlash with her comments about she became the creative director of million pound fashion company PrettyLittleThing.
Former Gladiators star Ulrika has hit out at Molly-Mae and said she was “famous by chance” after appearing on the 2019 series of Love Island.
The star then referenced a YouTube video in which Molly-Mae complained that finding venues for her PrettyLittleThings jobs was “a lot of work”.
Ulrika wrote in her column for The Sun it was “worryingly insulting on many levels, adding: “there are a lot of incredibly hardworking young people out there.
“Often, these dedicated youngsters have fought hard against a tide of deprivation.”
She added: “For many others – like Molly-Mae, who just by chance became famous as a vlogger and then went on to gain even more notoriety by appearing on Love Island courtesy of a pretty face and a love of fashion – working hard amounts fundamentally to doing “nothing”.
“These people are paid money for just existing, and it is this which troubles me.”
Ulrika also said she was worried for those who aspire to be social media stars such as Molly-Mae and Kim Kardashian as they then come to believe all they have to do is “prance and pose” to be successful.
Kim has also recently come under fire after appearing in a video which saw her say “Get off your f***ing *ss and work.
“No one wants to work these days,”, adding that she thought people didn’t do enough to make a success out of themselves, as her sisters and mother Kris Jenner nod in agreement.
People took to social media to compare the two social media stars for their similar outlooks on success, with one saying: “Kim Kardashian really channelled her inner Molly Mae.”
Another agreed: “Molly Mae and Kim K clearly deluded about the way the world and the economy works.”
A third chipped in: “I think the thing that confuses me most about Molly Mae and Kim Kardashian being stupidly out of touch is not that they’re out of touch idiots but that armies of women and girls will spend hours online defending them for insinuating they and everyone they know are lazy poors.”
