A Place in the Sun fans fume at guest's rude response to host Danni Menzies

A Place in the Sun fans were livid and threatened to turn off programme as they spotted a “rude” gesture from a guest.

Holiday home buyers Martyn and Sharon appeared on the Channel 4 property programme to look for a two-bed home in sunny Algarve, Portugal.

Foodie Martyn was hoping to get a place with outdoor space so he could enjoy a barbecue with friends and family, whereas his partner preferred a modern interior with room for storage.

But with a limited budget of £160,000, they struggled to find a property that pulled at their heartstrings.

For the final property, presenter Danni Menzies showed them a home in their favourite location of Vilamoura that’s only 15 minutes away from the closest beach.

Sharon had a good impression at the first glance of the ground floor flat, saying: “Nice size, I think it’s bright, I like the style of the balcony, which you can see out the side there.”

Danni then asked the same to Martyn, who replied: “Great size. Location as regards to Quarteira, Vilamoura is superb.

“Access – great. But the negatives…really, elevation again. I picked it up on the property the other day and it just needs to be picked up a little bit more.”

Danni wondered if the couple would like to see the outside space that they could compromise on.

And Martyn raised his shoulder and let out a big sigh.

Sharon looked at him in shock before he reluctantly agreed: “Yes, let’s have a look.”

But the house hunter admitted the view and the balcony “have not grabbed me”.

Fans did not like Martyn’s reaction and branded him a “knobhead”.

One wrote: “Danni offering to show them the rest of the place and he lets out a huge sigh.”

“I’m getting p*ssed off with him and his wish to lift properies up,” a second remarked and a third noted: “I know the properties have been crap but he is really nit picking and his partner is giving him dirty looks.”
