Amanda Holden is a lady of many talents having worked in television as both an actress and a presenter, on top of hosting her own radio show and recording a top five album.
After graduating from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts drama school in London, a fresh-faced Amanda opted to pursue a career in acting and soon landed TV roles in The Grimleys and Kiss Me Kate in the late 1990s. Much bigger gigs followed, including ITV’s Wild at Heart and a presenting role on This Morning, before she became a Britain’s Got Talent judge in 2007.
One TV role that often goes under the radar, however, is her appearance on EastEnders in 1993. The 52-year old arrived in Albert Square as market trader, which she has recalled to her Heart Radio colleague, Jamie Theakston.

Discussing her time on the BBC soap – the star’s first foray into acting – the mother-of-two said she had fun working on the famous Walford market.
Amanda explained to Jamie: “When I left drama school, EastEnders was one of the first jobs I got. I had to look after someone’s stall for half an hour which was like four episodes or something. I was opposite Adam Woodyatt – your ex-flatmate!”
Shocked, Jamie responded: “That’s not true! I didn’t know you were in EastEnders. There’s pictures though?” Amanda added: “Ian Beale – looked after a jewellery stall and he had his fruit and veg, there was a lot of messing around with rude fruit that’s all I’m going to say. I had a lot of fun, it was a nice show to do.”
Earlier this week, I’m A Celebrity duo Ant and Dec revealed they are keen to sign Amanda up for next year’s series of the ITV show. The pair were asking fans for suggestions to enter camp in 2024 with 48-year old Ant reporting: “I’ve just seen someone say ‘get Amanda Holden on the show’ written in capitals. Okay, yeah I am not saying no to that one. Let’s get her on the show.
“Amanda, if you are watching, we’ll see you on here. Come on, you would love it. Come on in, the water is freeing!” Dec nodded in agreement.”
Back in April 2020 Amanda said she might consider the show – but only if it was the last ever series. She explained: “If Ant and Dec announced it would be their last ever series, then I think they’d get to choose who is in it, and we’d all have to do it.”
On the famous eating trials she added: “I’d be a screamer – but there’s nothing I wouldn’t put in my mouth, babe.”
