BBC Breakfast replaces two iconic weather presenters as rarely seen star steps in

BBC Breakfast fans saw a major shake-up to the programme late this week, as the show replaced two of its most iconic weather presenters.

Carol Kirkwood, who usually presents the meteorology segment earlier in the week, and Matt Taylor, who tends to step in on Fridays, were both nowhere to be seen on January 27.

In their place was Sarah Keith-Lucas, who promised continued chilly temperatures with hints of sunshine for a selection of Brits.

Meanwhile, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt took their usual places on the famous red sofa, as fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the major shake-up.

One penned: “Looking lovely Sarah. Thanks for the weather report!”

As another Twitter user added: “Morning Sarah. Happy Friday!”

Sarah also gave her own Twitter followers an update via the site, writing: “Good morning. A quiet day weather-wise for most.

“You may be lucky enough to see a few glimpses of sunshine but there’s generally a lot of cloud. I’ll have more details on@BBCBreakfast.”

Elsewhere on the programme, Charlie Stayt was left red-faced after nearly forgetting what day of the week it was.

The star said: “Five minutes past seven, S- It’s Friday morning! Nearly said Saturday morning then, it’s not. It’s Friday morning.”

Turning to Sarah, he reiterated: “Sarah, it’s Friday morning, okay? How’s the weather?”

Giggling, Sarah replied: “It is! It’s Friday morning, nearly the weekend, isn’t it? And actually the weather should be behaving itself for many of us today.”

It comes after Naga Munchetty exposed a wardrobe habit her co-star Carol Kirkwood adheres to while on air.

On yesterday’s show (January 26), Naga said ahead of Carol’s segment: “Carol, you match the map, I’m looking forward to the day when you wear yellow and match the map.”

“Me too, me too, Naga. Bring on the summer,” Carol replied.

She was also praised for wearing a ‘frosty’ style blue dress for another episode, as Naga said: “You’re perfectly matched to the weather today, aren’t you? Like frosty.”

Carol confessed: “Thank you Naga, that is more good luck than good planning I have to say!”
